Mattanchery Palace, more popularly known as the Dutch Palace, is a functioning museum run by the Archaeological survey of India (ASI).
The main concept of the design has been to bring international quality to the museum and to arrive at a more pragmatic approach to the restoration of the historic structure. The scope of works include restoring the wooden flooring and wall finishes, lighting of the world famous murals with state of art lighting techniques etc.. The entire exhibition is also being re-designed as an information center for not only travelers but the local populace as well.
